Asturias is the autonomous community where dining out has become more expensive in 2024, with an increase of 4.7% compared to the same period the previous year. It is followed by Aragón and La Rioja, with increases of 4.4% and 4.3%, respectively.

According to the latest data from the INE, which also reflects that in the whole of Spain, the general indicator of the CPI for prices in bars, restaurants, and dining rooms has increased by 3.8%.

The prices of catering services, therefore, continue to outpace the CPI of food and beverages, which grew by 1.7% in the first eleven months of last year compared to the same period the previous year: more than double. The reason is that, according to the Hospitality Spain association, “the catering industry tends to implement price increases with a delay,” as reported by EFE.

But the organization's forecasts indicate that the growth curve has peaked and that prices will remain stable. There is a “moderation and stabilization” occurring after the year closed with a “positive” balance and a stabilization in demand, they assure.

If Asturias, La Rioja, and Aragón lead the price increase, Navarra, Murcia, and Castilla-La Mancha stand out as the autonomous communities with the lowest increment. In this way, the price increase in the Navarrese restaurant sector stands at 2.5%, while in Murcia it has reached 3.2% and in Castilla-La Mancha 3.3%.

In the Valencian Community, Catalonia, Castile and León, the Balearic Islands, and the Canary Islands, an increase of 4% is not reached. All this results in a national map where eating in bars and restaurants has become more expensive than buying food and drinks in the supermarket, but the increase has been moderate.
